Porto de Vale de Cavaleiros (Fogo) nach Cidade Velha (Santiago):
Southwest of Fogo and Santiago high mountains give considerable coverage from the northeast trade winds (dark blue). The rest of the passage is light blue (indicating about 20 kn wind). The direction of trade winds seems to change, maybe following the coast contours, as suggested by variations of the gps track between 5 and 7). Before reaching Cidade Velha we unexpectedly observed stronger wind again.
